WHAT WE DO
SHOCK’s steering committee meets regularly to discuss the local challenges raised by the Land Value Alliances (LVA) application and works to ensure the village character, environment, amenities and infrastructure and are not overwhelmed by excessive housing development, which inevitably brings with it the further issues of traffic volume and speeds; highway safety; an overburdened sewerage system resulting in environmental health issues; and overcrowding at the village school. All of which have led to scrutiny and submissions to theplanning authority. We work for the benefit of the whole village, as shown by the overwhelming support we have received, from our membership, and from the sheer volume of diverse objections registered against the LVA estate. That work has taken us up some surprising and rewarding avenues, writing to King Charles, lobbying Government on the Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill currentlybefore Parliament ( which will have a radical impact on the planning system), and supporting other communities facing the horrors of speculative development from the likes of LVA.
